I want to take this time to thank everyone for their support of the Onslow Memorial Hospital Foundation throughout 2024. The outpouring of encouragement has positioned the Foundation to have one of the best fiscal years in the history of our organization.
The most obvious accolade of the year has been the $400,000 donation for an endowment to support hospice services for residents of Onslow County provided in November by Caregivers Inc. The funds allowed the creation of a second OMHF endowment with the highly-respected North Carolina Community Foundation (NCFF.) NCCF now manages and invests over $875,000 for the OMH Foundation, and the Caregivers generous gift has provided the philanthropic partnership to grow even stronger in 2024.
Additional private funding has also allowed the Foundation to take a “broader view,” in terms of creating an impact with OMH and throughout Onslow County. OMH Foundation grants secured equipment for cancer patients, a new patient table for the Rehab Center, and help for local people facing transportation and food insecurity challenges in time of illness.
The New Year is also off to a positive start with recent donations earmarked for the emergency room department and for cancer patients facing food insecurities.
And, while this is only a small sample of the many accomplishments provided by numerous donors and volunteers in support of the OMH Foundation, the highlights listed above are especially fulfilling when one considers that in each case 100% of the donation went directly to services… and that achievement is truly a notable feat in today’s philanthropic environment.
