Miles for Mammos 5k Run
Julie’s Pink Warrior Project honors the legacy of Julie Zerkle, a brave breast cancer fighter dedicated to helping others facing the same battle. Proceeds from the project go toward providing 3D mammogram screenings for uninsured and underinsured individuals in Onslow County. Since 2018, the Onslow Memorial Hospital Foundation has helped deliver over 395 mammograms.
The project welcomed its first patient on July 3, 2018, and has continued to support women in Onslow County ever since.
In 2020, Julie’s Pink Warrior Project teamed up with the Onslow County Health Department to bring back the Breast Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP). This program is a local effort to give uninsured or underinsured individuals, especially those burdened by high deductibles, full access to breast and cervical cancer screenings.
