Miles for Mammos 5K – Why Run with Us?
Every year, over 6,000 women in North Carolina are diagnosed with breast cancer. It’s the second leading cause of death for women in the state, and the reality is that 1 in 8 women across the United States will face this diagnosis in their lifetime. Despite the overwhelming numbers, there is hope. Today, over 4 million breast cancer survivors are living proof of the power of early detection, treatment, and support.
That’s why we invite you to join us for the Miles for Mammos 5K this October. Together, we run not just for fitness but for a cause that saves lives—free mammograms for the uninsured and underinsured in our community.
Julie’s Pink Warrior Project
The Julie’s Pink Warrior Project was created to honor loved ones, support survivors, and raise awareness about the importance of early detection. Through the funds raised by this event, we’re able to increase access to life-saving screenings for those who need it most. Since 2018, we’ve been offering free screening mammograms, ensuring that women in our community have access to the care they deserve.
Why Should You Join Us?
- Honor Loved Ones: Run in memory of someone you’ve lost or in celebration of a survivor in your life.
- Support Survivors: Show your solidarity with the women who have fought and those still fighting.
- Raise Awareness: Help spread the word about early detection and the importance of mammograms.
- Increase Access: Your participation helps provide free screenings for women who might not otherwise afford it.
